Life Story for Stanley Lev

Stanley Franklin Lev, 86, husband, father, and grandfather, passed peacefully in his home in Peoria, Arizona on May 22nd, 2018.

Stanley, lovingly called “Stan-the-Man”, grew up in The Bronx, New York City. His athletic skills were superb as he became a star running back at Roosevelt High School and earned the nickname “Swivel Hips”. He went on to study Physical Education at Hunter College, New York, where in 1958 he was named “Athlete of the Year”. Stanley also spent a number of years in the Coast Guard Service with a brief stint in Korea during the Korean War. Then Stanley met and married Bernice Kluger, and they moved out to Kings Park, Long Island where he became a Phys Ed teacher for over 30 years. Stanley and Bernice had 3 children, Robbin, Rhonda, and Bruce. Once their kids grew up, “Stan & B” spent 15 years in Florida before moving to Phoenix, Arizona to be near many of their eight grandkids.

Stanley was an avid tennis and ping pong player, was always involved with his kids activities, and never said no to his son when he wanted someone to hit ground balls to him in the backyard.

Stanley is survived by his loving wife Bernice, his three children, Robbin (Jeff), Rhonda (Gary), and Bruce (Setyo), and his eight grandchildren, Jessica Swartz, Matthew Swartz, Andrew Swartz, Samuel Perlmutter, Jackie Perlmutter, Brandon Lev, Amaya Lev, and Arianna Lev. He is also survived by his brother Bert and nephews and niece.

Stanley will be buried in the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Cave Creek, Arizona.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to one of the following organizations: The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Society and The Alzheimer’s Association.
