Condolences

Condolence From: Claudio Barbaranelli
Condolence: I discovered today this sad new. I am a colleague from Rome University. I had some email exchange with Sam regarding topics related to the method he developed for computing reliability estimates from WLSMV estimates. He was a very kind and generous person, and of course a brilliant psychometrician. I am really sad for his departure. My sincere condolences to his family.
Cheers

Condolence From: JULIA HANNAY
Condolence: I first met Sam when he joined several of us as young assistant professors in the Department of Psychology at Auburn University. We all got along so well and thoroughly bonded not only with each other but also with the graduate students at the time. There was such joy in our work and social relationships. Some of the graduate students were older than we were having returned to school after the Vietnam War. We made life long friends who became extended family in various combinations but always wanted to know what was going on with the ones we were not as close to. We have laughed together, cried together, been there for each other through the best and worst events in each others lives. By now, in some cases, we have known four generations beginning with our parents and others. The loss of anyone leads each of us to grieve. How wonderful, kind and loving Sam was as a person and how much he has been loved in return. How happy I was to see Sam at the Auburn reunion a few years ago when our group of faculty were the only group of former faculty privileged to be invited back by former and current graduate students and faculty to a wonderful program. Lots of stories were retold with great humor. Lots of hugs were shared and there was generally lots of love to go around. Thank you Sam for being who you were. I am so glad to have known some of Sam's family at that time and wish that I had known others . My prayers and thoughts are with all family and friends at this time.
